Overview

Flexible Worker Contract 

Location: Remote with expected travel in the following areas: Lincoln, Northampton, Cambridge, Ipswich, Norwich, London, and Plymouth.

 

About the role

 

We are seeking an experienced Independent End Point Assessor (EPA) to assess apprentices against the Personal Trainer / Fitness Trainer Apprenticeship Standard.

 

You’ll be working as part of a dedicated, flexible team, where you can use your professional skills and knowledge whilst developing others. Added to this, you will be working at the forefront of End Point Assessment, as NCFE work with Independent Training Providers, Further Education Colleges and Employment Providers to drive valuable partnerships across the developing world of Apprenticeships and EPA.

 

This role is ideal for a qualified Personal Trainer Assessor, EPA, Fitness Assessor, or Tutor with a strong understanding of apprenticeships, assessment criteria, and EPA processes. You will deliver high-quality, impartial assessment activities including professional discussions, observations, and portfolio reviews, ensuring consistency and compliance with awarding organisation requirements.

 

Home based position with expected travel in the following areas: Lincoln, Northampton, Cambridge, Ipswich, Norwich, London, and Plymouth.

 

How you'll make an impact:

  • Conduct End Point Assessments (EPA) for Personal Trainer / Fitness Trainer apprentices
  • Assess apprentice competence through observations, presentations and interviews.
  • Make independent assessment decisions in line with the assessment plan and grading criteria
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to apprentices and training providers
  • Ensure all assessments meet EPAOs, Ofqual, ESFA, and apprenticeship standard requirements
  • Maintain accurate assessment records, reports, and documentation
  • Participate in standardisation, CPD, and quality assurance activities
  • Ensure compliance with data protection, safeguarding, and equality & diversity policies

We'd love to hear from you if you offer the following:

  • Hold a Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification (or equivalent fitness qualification)
  • At least 5 years occupational competency within the subject area
  • Recognised Assessor qualification (TAQA / A1 / CAVA or equivalent) (an additional IQA qualification would be desirable) 
  • Current or recent experience in personal training, fitness coaching, or gym instruction
  • Strong knowledge of Personal Trainer Apprenticeship Standards and EPA processes
  • Have at least 12 months’ experience of responsibility for the workplace competence assessment of personal trainer
  • Experience assessing or supporting learners within apprenticeships or vocational training
  • A valid driving licence and have flexibility to travel across your area for F2F assessment delivery
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and report-writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and objectively as an EPA
